Terms of service
Version 1.3 · Last updated 13 October 2026
1. About these terms
These are the terms on which Leo Martelli Ltd sells framed limited-edition prints through leomartelli.com. Please read them before you order. By placing an order you agree to them. They are written for consumers. If you are buying for a business, email us first at hello@leomartelli.com.
In these terms, "we", "us", "our" and "the studio" mean Leo Martelli Ltd. "Leo Martelli" is the name the studio trades under. "Work" means a framed print you order from us. "Working days" are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays in the UK and, for orders made abroad, in the country where your work is made.
Our Returns & replacements policy, Shipping policy, Reviews policy and Privacy policy form part of these terms. If anything in those policies conflicts with these terms, these terms apply.
2. Who we are and how to contact us
Leo Martelli Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17451135. Our registered office is 82a James Carter Road, Bury St. Edmunds, IP28 7DE, England. We are not registered for VAT.
You can contact us at hello@leomartelli.com. We reply within 1 working day. If we need to contact you, we will use the email address you gave when you ordered.
Returns are sent to our London returns address, which is given in section 9 and in our Returns & replacements policy. Please do not send returns to the registered office.
3. Who can order
You must be at least 18 years old to place an order. We deliver to the United Kingdom and to most other countries. If we cannot deliver to your address, checkout will tell you before you pay.
4. How ordering works
To order, add a work to your cart, go to checkout, enter your delivery and payment details and press the button that confirms your purchase. You can review and correct your order on the checkout pages at any time before you press that button.
When you place an order you are offering to buy the work. We accept your order, and a contract is formed between us, when we send you the email confirming your order. We keep a record of every contract; if you would like a copy of your order details or these terms as they applied to your order, email us. The contract is concluded in English; by ordering you expressly agree that these terms and every document relating to your order are in English.
We may be unable to accept an order if your payment is not authorised, if we cannot deliver to your address, or if the edition of that work sells out before we confirm your order. Once we have confirmed an order we will only cancel it in three cases: the price or description shown was obviously wrong and you could reasonably have recognised the mistake (section 6), a discount code was used outside its conditions (section 7), or the edition sells out after your payment has been taken. In the first two cases we contact you first and you can choose to keep the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund. The third can happen if the last copy of a work is bought in two orders at almost the same moment; we then cancel your order, tell you by email and refund you in full, because the edition is never extended (section 5). If we cannot accept an order we will tell you and refund in full anything you have paid.
Your order goes into production about 24 hours after you place it. If you need to change the delivery address or cancel within that window, email hello@leomartelli.com straight away and we will stop the order and refund you in full. After that the work is being made for you and cannot be stopped, but your right to cancel under section 9 continues: you can cancel at any time up to 14 days after the work arrives. If you cancel before it arrives, you can refuse the delivery or send it back once it has arrived; if you told us before we dispatched it, we will not deduct the cost of the return carriage.
5. The works and the edition
Each work is released as an edition of 250, across all sizes and frame colours together. The edition is never extended.
Numbers are allocated in the order in which works are bought. You cannot choose a number. Your number is recorded against your order and, where the production facility can print it, on a card packed with your work; you can ask us for your number at any time. If we replace a damaged copy under section 10, the replacement carries the same number and the damaged copy no longer forms part of the edition. If an order is cancelled or a work is returned to us, its number is released and may be allocated to a later buyer, so that the total never exceeds 250.
Every work is a gallery-grade matte print (200 gsm) in a wood frame with plexiglass (acrylic) glazing, delivered ready to hang. Sizes and frame colours are shown on each product page. Where your work is made depends on your delivery address; see our Shipping policy.
Small differences in tone between a screen and a print are normal in fine art printing and are not treated as a fault; a print that is materially different from the image shown is. The plexiglass ships with a thin protective film that can look slightly tinted or marked; peel it off before you judge the glazing, and if marks remain, section 10 applies.
Room images on our site and social media are digitally created to show scale. They are not customers' homes.
6. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). The price on the product page is the total price of the work; we do not add VAT or any other tax to it at checkout. Delivery is free to UK addresses. For other countries the delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay. Our prices do not include any import duties, taxes or fees that your country may charge on delivery; see section 8 and our Shipping policy.
Payment is taken in full when you place your order, by any of the payment methods offered at checkout. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments. We never see or store your full card details.
We take care to price correctly. If a price is obviously wrong and you could reasonably have recognised the mistake, we will contact you before dispatch; you can then confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund.
7. Discount codes
From time to time we issue discount codes, for example a private welcome code by email or a code announced to our followers. A code can be used only within the period and on the conditions stated where it was issued. Unless we say otherwise, one code can be used per order, a code cannot be combined with any other code, and a welcome code can be used once per customer. Codes have no cash value and cannot be applied to an order after it has been placed.
If a code is used outside its stated conditions, for example a welcome code used more than once or a code that was not issued to you, the discount does not apply. We will contact you before dispatch so that you can pay the difference or cancel the order for a full refund.
8. Delivery
We deliver to the address you give at checkout. Delivery times are estimates from the day you order: 5–7 working days for the UK, longer for other countries, as set out in our Shipping policy. Each work ships in its own box, with tracking. We will email you a tracking link when it is on its way.
If we have not delivered within 30 days of your order, or by any later date we have agreed with you, you may cancel the order and we will refund you in full. For destinations where the estimated delivery time in our Shipping policy is longer than 30 days, that estimated time is the agreed delivery period.
The work is your responsibility from the moment it comes into your physical possession, or into the possession of someone you have asked to take delivery for you. Until then, loss or damage in transit is our responsibility.
If the tracking shows delivered but nothing has reached you, email hello@leomartelli.com as soon as you can, ideally within 7 days, so that we can check with the carrier and put it right.
Please check your address carefully. Each work is made to order and sent to the address you give at checkout, and you are responsible for that address being complete and correct. You can change it free of charge within 24 hours of ordering (section 4). If a parcel cannot be delivered because the address you gave was incomplete or incorrect, the carrier returns it to the production facility, where it cannot be recovered or resent. Because the cost of making, sending and returning the work has then been lost through the address error, we do not refund the price or send a replacement free of charge in that case; you are welcome to place a new order. If you believe the address you gave was correct, tell us and we will check the carrier's records. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights. We cannot deliver to PO boxes.
Orders delivered outside the UK may be subject to import duties, taxes or handling fees charged by the authorities in your country. These are not included in our price and are payable by you to the carrier before delivery. Our Shipping policy explains where orders for each region are made and when such charges are likely.
9. Your right to cancel
The following is the information we are required by law to give you about your right to cancel. Practical details, including how to return a work, are in our Returns & replacements policy.
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the goods or, where you ordered more than one work in a single order and they are delivered separately, of the last of them.
To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us (Leo Martelli Ltd (company number 17451135), registered office: 82a James Carter Road, Bury St. Edmunds, IP28 7DE, England, hello@leomartelli.com) of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement (for example a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than (a) 14 days after the day we receive back from you any goods supplied, or (b) (if earlier) 14 days after the day you provide evidence that you have returned the goods, or (c) if there were no goods supplied, 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us at Leo Martelli Ltd, F31 Legacy Building, 1 Viaduct Gardens, London SW11 7EL without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation of this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired.
You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. Framed works cannot normally be returned by post; the cost is estimated at a maximum of approximately £30 from a UK address, £100 from elsewhere in Europe and £250 from the rest of the world, depending on size and carrier.
You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
The model cancellation form is at leomartelli.com/pages/cancellation-form.
If you refuse a parcel, or do not collect it after the carrier has left a delivery notice, and it is returned to us or to our production partner, we treat this as a cancellation and refund you, less the direct cost of the return carriage: currently £20 for UK addresses and, for other countries, the carrier's actual return charge, estimated at a maximum of approximately £60. We deduct nothing if the parcel was refused because it was visibly damaged, if you had already cancelled before we dispatched it, or if the carrier did not attempt delivery or leave a notice. Import duties, taxes or handling fees charged by your country are not part of our price and are not refunded by us.
10. If something is wrong with your work
We are under a legal duty to supply goods that conform to the contract. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 every work must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you may reject it for a full refund within 30 days of delivery. After that you are entitled to a repair or replacement and, if that is not possible or does not put things right within a reasonable time, to a price reduction or a refund. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
If you live outside the United Kingdom, the legal guarantee of conformity under the law of your own country applies to your purchase as well. In the European Union it lasts at least 2 years from delivery, and for at least the first year any lack of conformity is presumed to have existed at delivery. Nothing in these terms limits it. If you live in Australia, see the note on the Australian Consumer Law in our Returns & replacements policy.
If anything arrives damaged, send a photo within 7 days of delivery and it is reprinted at no cost. Nothing needs to be sent back. This does not affect your statutory rights.
In practice: email hello@leomartelli.com with your order number and photos of the work, the outside of the box, the inside packaging and the shipping label. We will send a replacement, which keeps your edition number, or refund you in full if you prefer. Asking for photos within 7 days helps us claim from our carrier; it does not shorten the time in which you can exercise your legal rights.
11. Intellectual property
Every work, image, design, title and text on leomartelli.com is owned by or licensed to Leo Martelli Ltd and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. "Leo Martelli" and the Leo Martelli wordmark are our trade marks.
When you buy a work you own the physical print and frame, and you may display it, sell it or give it away. You do not acquire any copyright or other rights in the image. You are welcome to photograph the work and share the photograph for personal, non-commercial purposes, for example on social media. You may not reproduce, scan, adapt, distribute or use the image commercially, or make copies of the work, without our written permission. The edition card belongs with the work; if you pass the work on, please pass the card on with it.
Content you send us
This part applies to anyone who sends us content, whether or not they have bought from us. If you send content through the review form on our site, you agree to it when you submit your review.
If you send us content (a review, a photograph, a video, or anything else you upload or send us to publish) you keep everything you own in it. You give us a licence to store, copy, resize, crop, display and publish it on leomartelli.com, in our emails, in our advertising, including on Facebook and Instagram, and on our social media accounts. We may resize or crop it to fit, but we do not change what it shows. The licence is non-exclusive, so you can still use your own content however you like; it is worldwide and free of charge; and we may pass it on to the companies that run our site, our reviews, our emails and our advertising, so that they can publish it for us. The licence lasts until you ask us to stop. After that it covers only copies we can no longer recall, such as emails already sent. We do not have to publish anything you send, and where we publish a review we publish it with the display name you gave and without changing your words or your rating.
By sending us content you confirm that it is yours to send, that it does not infringe anyone else's rights, and that anyone who can be identified in it has agreed to it being published. You can ask us to take it down at any time by emailing hello@leomartelli.com: we will remove it from our site and our social media accounts, stop showing it in our advertising and not use it in any new email. If someone who can be identified in a photograph or video asks us to take it down, we will. Copies other people have made are outside our control. How reviews work is set out in our Reviews policy, and what we do with the personal data in content you send is in our Privacy policy.
12. Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if, at the time the contract was made, both we and you knew it might happen.
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else where it would be unlawful to do so, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Our works are supplied for private, domestic use. We are not responsible for any business losses, such as loss of profit, business or goodwill.
Every work is supplied ready to hang, and its weight and size are shown on the product page. You are responsible for choosing a fixing and a wall suitable for that weight and for hanging the work securely; we are not responsible for damage caused by an unsuitable fixing or wall. Nothing in this section limits our responsibility for a fault in the work itself, including its hanging fittings.
13. Events outside our control
If delivery of your order is delayed by an event outside our control, such as a carrier strike or severe weather, we will contact you as soon as possible and take steps to minimise the delay. We will not be responsible for losses caused by the event itself, but your right under section 8 to cancel if we have not delivered within 30 days (or within the longer agreed delivery time for your destination) is not affected, and if the delay is likely to be substantial you may cancel at any time and receive a full refund for any work you have not received.
14. Complaints and disputes
If you are unhappy with anything, email hello@leomartelli.com. We aim to resolve complaints within 14 days. We are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme and are not obliged to use one. If we cannot resolve a complaint with you, we will tell you in writing, name a certified ADR provider you could use, and say whether we are willing to use it for that dispute. UK consumers can also get free advice from Citizens Advice.
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or your order, are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales and, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts, and you keep the protection of the consumer law that applies where you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, nothing in these terms takes away any protection given to you by the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live; you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country, and we will bring any proceedings against you only in those courts.
15. Other important terms
We use your personal data as set out in our Privacy policy.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if the business is sold. We will tell you if this happens and it will not affect your rights. This contract is between you and us; no other person has any rights under it.
Each paragraph of these terms operates separately. If any court or authority decides that any of them is unlawful, the rest will continue in full force. If we delay in enforcing these terms, we can still enforce them later.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the version in force when you placed it, which we will send to you on request.
