How reviews work here: who can write one, what happens to it, and what we will not do. If you want something put right rather than published, see section 10.
1. Fake reviews
We do not write reviews of our own work, and we do not buy, exchange or commission reviews. We do not ask friends, family or anyone connected with the studio to write one. Fake reviews, and reviews that are paid for, rewarded or written by someone connected with a business without saying so, are banned by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
A review that is fake, paid for, or written by someone with an undisclosed connection to us is removed, and the reason is recorded.
2. Who can write a review
The review form on each work's page is open to anyone who visits the site. We do not limit it to buyers, so a review on its own is not proof of a purchase.
A "Verified" label is added automatically by the review system, Judge.me, not by us, when it has checked that the writer is a customer of ours: for example, because the review came through the invitation we email after an order, or because the writer confirmed their email address and it matches an order placed with us. That order may be for a different work. We cannot add the label ourselves. A review without it is not necessarily untrue; it is just not matched to an order.
Each review also shows how it reached us, for example "Review collected via store invitation" or "Review collected from a store visitor". These labels are added by Judge.me.
3. The invitation we send
If you buy a work, we email you 14 days after it is dispatched to ask what you think of it. The email is sent for us by Judge.me. If your order is sent in more than one box, each box gets its own email, 14 days after that box is dispatched, about the works inside it (up to 7 works per order). We do not send reminders.
Delivery to some countries takes longer than 14 days, so the email can reach you before the work does. The link in it stays valid for 180 days, so there is time to write once the work has arrived.
Every buyer gets the same invitation on the same terms, wherever the order is delivered. We do not choose who to invite, and we do not start and stop invitations to shape the score.
You can refuse invitations when you order: your order confirmation email tells you how. Each invitation also has its own unsubscribe link. Invitations are separate from the Collectors Circle: leaving our mailing list does not stop review invitations, and opting out of invitations does not unsubscribe you from the list.
4. The confirmation email
If you write a review on our site rather than through an invitation, Judge.me may email you, from support@judge.me, a link to confirm your address. It does this when the address looks like a customer's, for example because it matches an order. Confirming is how a review written on the site can get the "Verified" label.
It is a check on the address, not a gate: your review is published whether or not you click the link. Nothing waits for our approval.
5. Nothing is given for a review
We do not offer discounts, credit, free work, prize draws or anything else in exchange for a review, and never for a positive one. Our welcome code is for joining the Collectors Circle, and has nothing to do with reviews.
6. What we publish, and what we do not do
Reviews are published automatically, whatever the rating. We do not approve them one by one, we do not hold low ratings back, and they are shown newest first. The rating on a work's page counts every published review of that work, with or without the "Verified" label.
The review system lets a shop make small edits to the text of a review, which the writer is told about and can undo. We do not use it: your words and your rating stay as you left them. When we answer a review, we reply in public under our own name.
We remove a review only where one of these is true:
- it is fake, or written by someone with an undisclosed connection to us;
- it repeats a review the same person has already left about the same work;
- it is not about our work or our service, for example spam or an advertisement;
- it attacks a person, or is hateful, threatening or unlawful;
- it gives away someone's personal details, a photograph or video in it was not the writer's to share, or someone who can be identified in a photograph or video asks us to take it down;
- the person who wrote it asks us to remove it, or asks us to delete their personal data. We may ask you to confirm the review was yours.
If a work is taken off our site, its reviews come off with it.
A low rating is not a reason. Finding a review unfair is not a reason. Strong language, anger or harsh criticism of our work, our prices or our service is not a reason either.
We record every removal with the date and the reason, and we email the address the review was left from, unless the review came down at the writer's own request.
7. Reviews stay with the work they are about
On this site, a review about one work is shown only on that work's page and counts only towards its rating. We do not move reviews between works or pool them across the catalogue.
If we ever show a selection of reviews on this site outside a work's own page, it is chosen by date, not by rating. When we quote a review in an email, an advert or on our social media accounts, we name the work it is about and never present it as a review of another work.
8. Photographs and videos
You can attach a photograph or a video. When you submit your review you give us a licence, set out in section 11 of our Terms of service, to show it with your review on the site, in our emails, in our advertising, including on Facebook and Instagram, and on our social media accounts. We may resize it or crop it to fit, but we do not change what it shows. When we use a review or anything attached to it outside the site, we say that it is a customer review collected through Judge.me.
You can ask us to take it down at any time: we remove it from our site and our social media accounts, stop showing it in our advertising and do not use it in any new email. Emails already sent and copies other people have made cannot be recalled.
What is published: the display name you type, your rating, your words, the date, the labels described in section 2 and anything you attach. Never your email address.
9. Reviews of the studio
We collect reviews of the works, not of the studio. The review system can ask for a separate store review after you write one; that is switched off, because a review nobody can read is of no use to you.
10. A review is not a complaint
If something is wrong, tell us and we will put it right. You do not have to write a review to get help.
If anything arrives damaged, send a photo within 7 days of delivery and it is reprinted at no cost. Nothing needs to be sent back. This does not affect your statutory rights.
For anything else, email hello@leomartelli.com. We reply within 1 working day and aim to resolve complaints within 14 days; see sections 2 and 14 of our Terms of service.
11. Who runs this for us
Our reviews are collected, stored and shown by Judge.me, on our instructions. Judge.me also keeps your reviews in a Judge.me reviewer account in your name, where you can see, edit or delete them yourself. What is collected, how long it is kept and how to have it removed are in section 5 of our Privacy policy.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. This policy forms part of our Terms of service; if you would like the version that applied at a particular date, email us and we will send it.
Questions? hello@leomartelli.com. We reply within 1 working day.
